How can innovative offshore renewable energy technologies reach the market faster and with less risk? That is the central question behind Offshore Proof, an Interreg project led by Campus@Sea that is developing a network of offshore test sites across Northwest Europe where reliable, accredited testing can take place.
Reliable testing and independent validation are essential for building confidence in new offshore technologies, reducing investment risks, and helping promising innovations reach the market more quickly.
From 10–12 June 2026, the Offshore Proof consortium gathered in Bremen and Helgoland, Germany, for its third partnership meeting, hosted by Fraunhofer IFAM. Over three days, project partners exchanged knowledge, strengthened collaboration, and advanced the development of a connected European testing ecosystem for offshore renewable energy technologies.
The programme began with a tour of Fraunhofer IFAM’s research facilities in Bremen, where partners gained insight into the institute’s work on offshore materials, structures, and testing methodologies. The visit continued to Helgoland, where these research activities are extended into real-world condition where the test site supports research and validation in areas including:
By collecting high-quality operational data under real offshore conditions, the facilities enable researchers and technology developers to better understand system performance and generate the evidence needed to support future certification processes.

Alongside the site visits, partners reviewed progress across the project’s work packages and discussed the next steps for Offshore Proof. Working sessions focused on strengthening cooperation between offshore test sites, identifying shared certification needs, and exploring opportunities to further harmonise testing approaches across Europe.
These discussions support Offshore Proof’s broader ambition of creating a connected network of offshore test facilities that helps innovative technologies progress from development to commercial deployment with greater confidence and lower risk.
