On Monday, Campus@Sea welcomed a group of VMBO 4 students from Maris College. The visit was dedicated to exploring the Blue Economy and the sustainable, multiple use of the North Sea for energy, food, water, nature, and safety.
During an interactive session, the students learned how the North Sea will not only serve as a source of green energy in the future, but also as a driver of innovation in food, nature, and safety, creating new career opportunities. Through a Kahoot quiz, the students discovered the possibilities within the Blue Economy as well as the challenges that come with it.
A highlight of the program was the visit to Elemental Water Makers, where the students tasted drinking water produced from seawater using innovative technology. This offered a tangible example of how smart solutions can address global challenges related to water and climate.
Campus@Sea considers such encounters an essential part of its mission. By introducing young people to the Blue Economy at an early stage, we raise awareness and inspire the professionals of the future. They will be the ones to make a difference in shaping a sustainable and future-proof North Sea.
