Today we celebrate Entrepreneurship Day, an initiative by MKB-Nederland that takes place annually on the third Friday of November. It is a day to recognise and appreciate entrepreneurs for their contribution to the Netherlands: growth, innovation, employment, and impact.
With more than 1.5 million entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship forms a cornerstone of the Dutch economy. This day is part of the international Global Entrepreneurship Week, during which more than 150 countries highlight the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation.
At Campus@Sea we see every day how essential entrepreneurship is for the future of the North Sea. The challenges are significant: the energy transition, biodiversity restoration, food production, and safety. Entrepreneurs play a decisive role in all of these.
They dare to develop new technologies, experiment at sea, take risks, and build solutions that contribute to a sustainable and resilient blue economy.
In and around our community, maritime companies, startups, scale-ups and research institutions work on projects that show what entrepreneurship at sea can achieve, from innovative offshore energy concepts and nature-enhancing solutions to circular materials, maritime safety technologies and sustainable food production at sea.
These entrepreneurs take ideas from concept to real-world application, often in challenging and complex environments.
Campus@Sea was established to support these pioneers. With our Maritime Testing Ground, Offshore Test Site, and our innovation ecosystem in the Scheveningen harbour, we provide entrepreneurs with the space to test, develop and collaborate.
We are proud of the companies and researchers who validate their innovations with us and who work together toward a future-proof North Sea.
